Melrose Disability Groups Call for Transparency in Education
The Melrose Special Education Parents Advisory Council http://melrosesepac.weebly.com/ (SEPAC) is a district-wide volunteer organization that serves as a resource to caregivers of children with disabilities ages 3-22. The Melrose Commission on Disability work to ensure that Melrose is fully inclusive of people with disabilities.
On October 10, 2022, both SEPAC and The Melrose Commission on Disability formally requested public records and data from the District related to special education expenses, analysis, enrollment, eligibility/evaluation, staffing, and reduced offsets related to ECC tuition.

SEPAC & Commission on Disability Letter to Superintendent and School Committee
Read the joint letter requesting transparency on 5-year historical data to assist in conducting the strategic planning for the students within the community who are supported by these groups. The letter also requests a SEPP Statement that would certify the Special Education Program Plan for the first time since 2015.
